and then there were 2 goonies...

[chewy gazing off into the wilderness... the great unknown. When we took this picture last summer we knew he could see things we couldn't... the next life? dog spirits frolicking in the hills? Turns out this was Chewy's last camping excursion, one of the best ones.]

This week has been a tough one for us... we lost a dear friend, Chewy. He was our third goonie...a dog that made our little house feel complete and calm. He passed this week at the grand old age of 13, not bad for the big guy. He had stopped eating in the past week so we had sensed that he was trying to tell us something...but he was still so happy we just couldn't put him down. Then, he passed on his own without a struggle in matt's arms. This was a dog that had been matt's for the 13 years... not just a dog, a true best friend. He came into my life about 4 years ago and I knew that his passing would be a rough one for both of us. He was a perfect dog and he will be missed greatly. Perhaps he is making room for our new addition. We only wish he could have met her.

Now I promise to post happy things.
Not busy schedules, not cancer, not death...
Now we focus on happy life and cherish it...
The head-out-of-the-window type of happiness.

  1. Lindsey and Matt, I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a dog is really hard- especially one that graced your lives for so long. We lost our Seamus to cancer nearly two years ago and I still think of him all the time. It is beautiful that you do have new life to look forward to, and two goonies to still give lots of love!

  2. Oh I am so sorry for your loss. Wesley {my pup} and I were sitting here reading your post and I think he felt the saddness too. They really are a part of the family.

  3. I am so sorry for your loss! To us our dog is a member of the family, so I can only imagine how Matt is feeling after 13 years of friendship. At least they were together when he passed. I cried reading your post... I just could read the sadness in your words. He will meet Cora in his own way! He will be looking down on you all as you welcome her into your family :)

  4. I'm very sorry for your loss. 13 wonderful years for Matt to remember and cherish. Rest in Peace, dear pup.

  5. aww thank you ladies for your sweet words. it was theraputic just to write a little blurb about our friend...even though it's a sad part of life. so thank you for your support and well wishes!!

  6. Oh Lin. I am holding back sobs at work reading this. I'm so sorry. What a wonderful, loveable dog. Hugs to you and Matt and the dogs. And a little baby-belly hug too. Wish I could be closer to you guys. Miss you. Let's talk soon.

  7. Holding back tears as I write... Alex and I were very upset about the news.

Thank you so much for your comments!! I love hearing what you have to say...
